I was a little disappointed when I found out that I would be spending my 22nd birthday in Colorado away from my family and friends. Before I left my family and I had dinner together and I received my birthday gifts but it wasn't the same as it usually was. But my birthday didn't end up as I thought. It landed on our first day as a cast to be together and start our adventure. When I woke up my roommate, Clothilde was waiting for me downstairs with a bag of candy from belgium. As soon as I arrived, Scott (assistant cast manager) asked if it was indeed my birthday. I looked at him with a questioned look and said yes it was. Then during morning meeting he had me and Veronika (Sweden) who was turning 20 come down infront of everyone. Along with us, 6 other cast members from 6 different countries sang happy birthday to us in their own languages. It was neat and thoughtful for them to do that for us. All day people kept coming up to me to say happy birthday and ask how my birthday was going. My mom, dad and brother all called to wish me a happy birthday as well. Then once I got home for the day my host parents gave me a birthday balloon and teddy bear. After that they took me out to eat at Chiles and my host dad insisted that I had a glass of beer so I had a tall glass of Coors Light ;).... he didint' have to twist my arm too hard..... LOL. So I would have to say that my birthday did turn out to be very nice.
